Woodland Hills, California, November 14, 2000. Vertel® Corporation (NASDAQ:VRTL), a leading provider of middleware for the telecommunications market, today announced new real-time product extensions for e*ORB. The product extensions support the Object Management Group's (OMG) new specification for real-time application programmer interfaces (API) as well as improves the pluggable transport and protocol that will enable a software developer to use priority based messaging in Quality of Service (QoS) enabled networks. In addition, this new product extension improves upon latency and jitter performance two key measures of real-time software performance.
Further enriching this product extension is the integration of the real-time version of e*ORB with Tri-Pacific's RapidRMA/RapidSCHED real-time design tool and scheduling service, which introduces the first distributed global scheduling service for CORBA middleware. The Vertel and Tri-Pacific solution gives developers full control over the real-time challenges of software development from design through implementation to execution. During the design stage, the RapidRMA solution enables a developer to analyze, plan, and optimize the timing architecture of the distributed software application in advance.
The integration of RapidSCHED and e*ORB creates a fully supported real-time CORBA solution for developers who require robust, predictable and efficient distributed real-time middleware.
"This integration eliminates the requirement that the application engineer also become a timing and scheduling expert while providing an optimal distributed global scheduling solution," said Jay Abbasi, VP of Sales for Tri-Pacific Software. "Simply put, the new combination of RapidSCHED and e*ORB enables companies to focus on creating quality products faster, while avoiding software timing or scheduling issues."
The combination allows implementers of embedded real-time systems ranging from optical switches to wireless end-devices the ability to predictably handle different protocols and data types across different hardware platforms, without tedious and expensive "trial and error" software development.
"Vertel is taking on the challenges of real-time software development from the perspective of the developer, who needs flexibility without complexity," said Patrick Tao, VP Product Marketing for Vertel. "By working with Tri-Pacific, we have delivered a complete, distributed, end-to-end e*ORB solution that is easy to use and has the power and flexibility needed for telecom strength real-time software."
Vertel provides one-stop shopping for e*ORB and RapidRMA/RapidSCHED through its licensing and support agreement with Tri-Pacific.
