Introduction to CORBACourse DescriptionCORBA stands for Common Object Request Broker Architecture and it is a set of middleware architectural specifications adopted by the Object Management Group. The OMG is an international organization supported by over 800 members, including information system vendors, software developers, and users.The class is an in-depth introduction to CORBA and it includes sections on Object Management Architecture, OMG Interface Definition Language, Static and Dynamic Invocation, Portable Object Adapter, Interoperability, Interworking, Object Services, and Common Facilities. CORBA is not a vacuous theoretical abstraction but there is a variety of successful CORBA compliant products in the market including, ObjectBroker, CORBAplus, DAIS, VisiBroker, Orbix, HARDPack, ORBexpress, and ChorusORB. One of the goals of the class is to enable the attendees to see independently why CORBA is the best middleware choice available and then choose and configure the appropriate ORB that meets their needs.
