Introduction to RAPID RMA
A Schedulability Analysis Tool Set

Course Description

RAPID RMA (formerly PERTS, Prototyping Environment for Real-Time Systems) is a collection of software tools for the analysis, validation and evaluation of real-time systems. RAPID RMA supports the evaluation of real-time design approaches, experimentation with alternative scheduling and resource management strategies, and performance analysis, all under “worst case” conditions. The software implements both commonly used and new scheduling algorithms and resource access control protocols. The class is a hands-on introduction to RAPID RMA theory and operation. Participants will create RAPID RMA models from exercises introduced during the class and from design issues from their own work area. They will then use the RAPID RMA tools to analyze the models for schedulability, alternate design strategies and future enhancement capacity.

Intended Audience

Software managers, analysts, developers, and testers of time-sensitive systems.

Prerequisites

Familiarity with basic software engineering concepts, basic algebra, and recognizing the difference between hard and soft timing constraints.
